Santeetlah Lake located just outside of Robbinsville, NC has over 76 miles of shoreline along fingers and open bodies of water. Santeetlah is Cherokee for “Blue Waters”. This beautiful and remote mountain lake has several boat access areas. Check out Avey Branch and the Cheoah boat ramps for quieter, more wind protected areas. Drift around in the early morning fog or afternoon sun. Both boat ramps have bathroom facilities that are maintained by the USFS. Watch for motorcycles on the popular roadways in the area. Get a paper map. There is little to no cell service in the area. Over two thirds of Graham county is USFS, with Santeetlah lake in the heart.

Campgrounds and Cabins

There are plenty of spots looking for season tourists.

USFS Cheoah Point Campground, pretty good for tent camping on the lake. Reserve your spot online. There are RV sites here, but they are cramped without sewer or a dump station.

USFS Group Camp Horse Cove provides tent camping for large groups. Reserve your spot online.

Camping along 143 in select first come first serve sites. J18 on the creek is pretty sweet.

Sweetwater Sights RV and Cabins, has full hook ups and rental cabins just outside of Robbinsville on opposite side from the lake.

Emergency

Graham County 911

There is no hospital in Graham county. Swain County hospital is in Bryson City 25 miles away.
